Construction of China's largest single offshore wind farm progresses
CGN broke ground on an onshore integrated control center at its Nanpeng Island Offshore Wind Farm in Yangjiang, Guangdong province on May 10.
The control center is a key part of China's largest single offshore wind farm project, which was approved last year.
Dubbed the "brain" of any offshore wind farm, an onshore integrated control center allows remote control of all wind turbines and overall management. Data from the operational components such as wind turbines, marine booster stations and submarine cables can be transmitted to the "brain" for analysis and processing.
Meanwhile, the center sends out explicit instructions to those components. The centralized control center is therefore also known as the "headquarters" of an offshore wind farm.

Located in the south of Dongping town and the southeast of Hailing Island in Yangjiang, Nanpeng Island Offshore Wind Farm has a designed installed capacity of 400 MW and is by far the largest single offshore wind farm in the country.
It is expected to supply power to the grid in 2020. Once completed, it will produce about 1.46 TWh/year and will facilitate the sustainable development of Guangdong.
CGN has also signed agreements with other coastal cities in the province such as Jieyang and Shanwei to develop offshore wind power. Cooperation between all parties is progressing well.
The company built the first offshore wind farm in Rudong, Jiangsu province in September 2016, which ushered in a fast lane of offshore wind power development.
