Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co and Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Co,  subsidiaries of China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), received the National May 1st Labor Certificate of Merit from the All-China Federation of Trade Unions in Beijing on April 28.

Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co is responsible for the construction and operation of Taishan Nuclear Power Station located in Guangdong province. Construction of Unit 1 of the station started in 2009, and Unit 2 construction followed in 2010.

They are the third and fourth EPR nuclear power units in the world, as well as the largest cooperation project in the field of energy between China and France.

Thanks to favorable factors such as CGN's experience gained from nuclear power construction and operation over more than 30 years and the long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and France in the field of nuclear power, Taishan Nuclear Power Plant has made steady progress with safety and quality since its initiation.

At present, Unit 1 of Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is already in the first position among similar units around the world. It exports successful methods and experience to them.

During French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to China on Jan 9, 2018, Chinese and French heads unveiled the plaque “The First EPR Reactor in the World” for Unit 1 of Taishan Nuclear Power Plant, , at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station is the first nuclear power plant in the western region of China. The first phase of the project was completed in 2017. Its on-grid electricity generation reached 11.78 billion kWh, enough for more than 5 million households in a year.

Sixteen of the 24 indicators of the World Association of Nuclear Operators in the plant are in the world’s top decile. The second phase of the Fangchenggang nuclear power project uses HPR1000, the Chinese Gen-III nuclear power technology with proprietary intellectual property rights.

The National May 1 Labor Certificate of Merit is the highest honor awarded by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions to enterprises and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to China’s economic, political, cultural, social and ecological civilization construction and Party building.

In addition to the National May 1 Labor Certificate of Merit, many units and individuals of CGN have been awarded by provincial and municipal federations.
