Unit4 Hot functional test of CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear power plant begins
At 9 a.m. on September 25, 2023, the hot functional test of CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant Unit 4 officially began.
The hot functional test (hereinafter referred to as “HFT”) is a comprehensive inspection of the unit performance before the fuel loading. Unit 4 of Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant, as the second unit of CGN’s Hualong One (HPR1000) demonstration project, is of great significance to the batch construction of CGN’s Hualong One (HPR1000) units.
On March 25, 2023, Unit 3 of CGN Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Station, the first “HPR1000” nuclear power unit in western China, was officially put into operation.
On the basis of the operating experience of Unit 3, the large project team made technological and managerial explorations and achieved a number of excellent results, which further improved the safety, quality and construction efficiency and provided successful, replicable and practical experience for subsequent projects.
Guangxi Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant is the first nuclear power plant in western China minority areas. The project plans to build 6×1,000 MWe nuclear power units. The two units in Phase I adopted the improved pressurized water reactor technology CPR1000 independently designed by CGN. Construction of the project officially started on 30 July 2010, and the first unit was officially put into commercial operation on January 1, 2016. Unit 3 and Unit 4 of Phase II both adopted “HPR1000”, China’s independent Generation III nuclear power technology.
