CGN Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Project Unit 5 Completes Dome Installation

At 8:08 on April 29, the dome of Unit 5 of the CGN Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Project was successfully installed, marking the comprehensive transition of the HPR1000 nuclear power unit from the civil construction stage to the equipment installation stage.

The dome is located at the top of the nuclear island and is an important component to ensure the integrity and sealing of the reactor building. The dome of Unit 5 of the Lufeng Nuclear Power Project is composed of embedded parts, steel plates, and angle iron welded on the outside. It weighs 238.5 tons and covers an area equivalent to four standard basketball courts, making it the largest steel component installed as a whole inside the nuclear island's steel lining.

The CGN Guangdong Lufeng Nuclear Power Project plans to build six Gigawatt-level nuclear power units. Once completed, the annual power generation will be about 52 billion kilowatt-hours, which can reduce standard coal consumption by 15.704 million tons per year and carbon dioxide emissions by 42.848 million tons, equivalent to afforestation of about 120,000 hectares.
