Yang Changli Invited to Attend the Sixth Meeting of the China-France Business Council and Signs Letter of Intent on Cooperation with EDF

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. On May 6, local time, during President Xi Jinping's visit to France, the sixth meeting of the China-France Business Council was held at the Marigny Theatre in Paris. President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron attended the closing ceremony and delivered speeches.


After the closing ceremony, companies from both sides signed 15 cooperation agreements in thefields of finance, nuclear energy, aviation, manufacturing, new energyetc. Yang Changli, Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), was invited to attend the event and participated in the state banquet attended by the heads of state of China and France in the evening as one of the business representatives.


At the event, Yang Changli and Luc Rémont, Chairman and CEO of Électricité de France (EDF), signed a "Letter of Intent on Deepening Related Cooperation in the Nuclear Energy Field." The two parties will further expand and strengthen cooperation inaspectssuch as nuclear power engineering construction, talent training, EPR operations, and leadership training in nuclear power operationsto achieve common development.


CGN and EDF, as the main participants in Sino-French civil nuclear energy cooperation, have been closely cooperating for 40 years since the construction of the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station. Thetwo groups havebecome strategic partners and formed a solid foundation for cooperation. The signing of this "Letter of Intent" further deepens and expands the areas of cooperation, which is of great significance for the development of civil nuclear energy in both countries and the business development of the two groups.


The China-France Business Council was established in 2018 under the leadership of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. The council aims to build a new platform for cooperation between the business communities of the two countries, establish long-term, institutional dialogues among business leaders of the two countries, and further promote the upgrading of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries through practical suggestions and cooperation.
