The HPR1000 nuclear island construction integrated platform was put into use at the Unit 6 of CGNLufeng Nuclear Power Plant

On May 29, led by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd. and participated by CGN Lufeng Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., in collaboration with China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co., Ltd and China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Co., Ltd, the HPR1000 nuclear island construction integrated platform (hereinafter referred to as "nuclear island construction platform") successfully completed its first jacking at the Unit 6of Lufeng Nuclear Power Plantin Guangdong province.

The nuclear island construction platform is a specialized construction technology for nuclear powerplant reactor buildings, developed based on the "residential building machine"technology used for ultra-high-rise residential buildings and the "skyscraper building machine"technology used for skyscrapers. This technology enhances construction efficiency, shortens construction duration, and reduces safety risks through synchronous construction of the inner and outer shells, streamlined facade operations, and integrated equipment and facilities.

It also features integral self-climbingstructure, multi-level operation surfaces, full-stage service, integrated equipment and facilities, and safety monitoring function.

Innovatively, the nuclear island construction platform has a large-diameter dual-ring integral self-climbing structureand angle-adjustable standardized hangers, which forms multi-layer three-dimensional flowing operation spacesand achieves synchronous construction of the inner and outer shells. Itisalso equippedwith a high-safety-redundant structural system and a real-time online safety monitoring system that can withstand extreme weather, ensuring construction safety.

The nuclear island construction platform innovatively integrates telescopiccranes, hydraulic jacking bridges, construction elevators, and temporary facilities such as large top stockyards, fire protection, lighting, and functional warehouses. The building materials are transferredwholly instead of being lifted separately. It realized multi-layer rapid transit of personnel, and can adaptively complete all-stages construction of reactor buildings, inner and outer shells, ASP water tanks, and prestressing.

This platform was first demonstrated in April 2024, on Unit6 of Lufeng Nuclear Powerplant. On May 29, with the completion of the 2nd layer of the outer shell and the 3rd layer of the inner shell casting, the construction integrated platform achieved its first jacking. The nuclear island construction platform provides a "construction factory" for reactor buildings, creating a safe and comfortable working environment, enhancing vertical transportation efficiency, decoupling the outer shellwork from surrounding building construction, and serving the entire construction cycle of the building, which reduces construction measuresand duration significantly, and maximizes the construction benefits of reactor buildings.
