On December 16, 2025, CGN's Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Station Unit 6 completed its first tank of concrete pouring (FCD) for the nuclear island, marking the official start of its main works construction.

The Ningde Nuclear Power Project is located in Taimushan Town, Fuding City, Fujian Province, with a planned construction of six nuclear power units of 1 million kilowatts each, implemented in two phases. It is the first nuclear power station in Fujian Province to commence construction and be commissioned. Phase II of the project, comprising Units 5 and 6, received national approval on July 31, 2023, both incorporating China's independently developed third-generation nuclear power technology, Hualong One (HPR1000). Unit 5 completed FCD on July 28, 2024.
"This time, the total amount of concrete poured for Unit 6's nuclear island is approximately 8,819.2 cubic meters, lasting about 55 hours," introduced Tian Huiyu, CPC Secretary, Chairman, and General Manager of Fujian Ningde Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Facing challenges such as limited site space and complex geological conditions, the Ningde Nuclear Power Project team extensively drew on CGN's experience in constructing Hualong One (HPR1000) units, conducted schedule simulations, implemented checklist-based management, established and improved the quality management system, systematically identified construction challenges, optimized construction logic, coordinated resource allocation, and strengthened process control through a daily engineering meeting mechanism, ensuring stable advancement of critical milestones.
Huang Xiangchou, General Manager of the Ningde Project Department of CGN Engineering Co., Ltd., stated that project construction will be driven by technological innovation, fully utilizing digital tools such as digital sand tables, integrated digital progress platforms, and smart construction sites, while actively promoting the application of 26 advanced construction technologies including steel-concrete composite structures and integrated installation modules.
Currently, overall construction of Phase II of the Ningde Nuclear Power Project is progressing in an orderly manner, with Unit 5 already entering the peak phase of main works construction. With the commencement of Unit 6, Ningde Nuclear Power will continue to inject clean energy into Fujian Province's economic and social development, support optimization of the regional energy structure and transition to green and low-carbon energy, and provide important momentum for CGN to achieve its "14th Five-Year Plan" high-quality development goals and build a world-class outstanding clean energy brand.
