Yang Changli Meets EDF Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Fontana

On May 29, Yang Changli, Chairman of China General Nuclear Power Corporation Co., Ltd. (CGN), met with the visiting Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Électricité de France (EDF) Fontana and his delegation at CGN Tower, Shenzhen. The two sides reviewed the progress of major cooperation projects and the implementation of the Global Partnership Agreement (GPA), and engaged in-depth exchanges on deepening and expanding pragmatic cooperation in the future.
Mr. Yang Changli extended a warm welcome to Fontana and his delegation. He pointed out that the close and multi-faceted in-depth cooperation between CGN and EDF under the GPA framework has long yielded fruitful results. In recent years, the two sides have achieved remarkable results in cooperation and exchanges in fields such as nuclear power operation and maintenance, engineering construction, and technology research and development, with continuous breakthroughs in major cooperation projects. Facing global energy transformation and the nuclear energy development goals of both China and France, CGN and EDF have broader space for cooperation. The two sides can harness their respective strengths and partner to address common challenges, consolidate existing cooperation achievements, and deepen and expand cooperation in various fields to achieve even richer results.
Fontana stated that CGN is an important partner of EDF. The two sides have established close cooperation mechanisms in multiple fields, successfully addressed complex challenges, and achieved abundant cooperation results. This exchange has further deepened the strategic mutual trust between the two sides. He expressed the hope that both parties would take this as a new starting point, continue to harness their respective strengths, deepen collaborative innovation, jointly explore new opportunities and breakthroughs in the nuclear energy sector, and write a new chapter of mutually beneficial China-France nuclear energy cooperation.
On May 28, Fontana and his delegation also visited the construction sites of Phase I and Phase II of the Taipingling Nuclear Power Project, and held in-depth discussions on topics including production preparation, engineering project management, batch construction of the "Hualong One," industrial chain cultivation, and the application of new technologies for the Huizhou Project.
The delegation included EDF Senior Executive Vice Presidents Yu Yunsa, Mu He, Luo Xi, and Shang Weilin; Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Larouel; Secretary-General Ma Chu; Taishan Nuclear Power Directors Fevrier and Bosiye; Leguan, Vice President for International Cooperation of the Operations Division; and Philippe, General Manager of the China Nuclear Power Division. Qin Yuxin and Liu Haijun, Vice Presidents of CGN Power; representatives from the Strategic Planning Department, the Science, Technology and Digitalization Department of the Group, as well as CGN Engineering, Taishan Nuclear Power, Huizhou Nuclear Power, and other entities participated in the relevant activities.
